Former University of Wyoming Running Back Titus Swen Joins XFL's Seattle Sea Dragons in 2023 Rookie Draft

Despite going undrafted in the 2023 NFL draft, Swen signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Indianapolis Colts. However, on May 8th, the Colts announced that they had waived Swen, opening the door for him to join the XFL.

Swen's college career at the University of Wyoming showcased his potential as a talented running back. In the 2022 season, he played in 12 games, accumulating an impressive career-high of 1,039 rushing yards, 5 yards per carry on 207 attempts, and scoring 8 touchdowns before being dismissed from the team in November. Prior to that, in the 2021 season, Swen had a strong performance as a running back for the Cowboys, appearing in all 13 games and leading the team with seven rushing touchdowns. He earned Second Team All-Mountain West honors by Pro Football Focus for his contributions. Swen recorded 785 rushing yards on 132 carries, averaging 60.4 yards per game and 5.9 yards per rush. He also made six catches for 30 yards during the season. Notably, he achieved two 100-yard rushing games, including a career-high of 169 yards against Utah State. Swen's 98-yard touchdown run against Utah State set a new record as the longest run in the history of the University of Wyoming football program. His overall performance placed him second on the team in rushing yards and yards per carry.

In the 2020 season, Swen did not play due to unspecified reasons. As a true freshman in 2019, Swen made a strong impact, playing in eight games and starting in one. He rushed for 349 yards on 67 carries, averaging 5.2 yards per carry, and scored one touchdown. His standout performance came against UNLV, where he rushed for a career-high of 136 yards and added a touchdown. Swen also contributed with 57 rushing yards in a game against Texas State and 45 yards on eight carries in his first-ever college game against Missouri. Overall, he showcased his potential as a dynamic and versatile running back during his freshman year.

Now, Swen has the opportunity to continue his football career in the XFL with the Seattle Sea Dragons. The XFL has expanded its team rosters from 51 to 90 players, allowing for increased player participation. The rookies selected in the draft, including Swen, will join the XFL rosters alongside players who finished the 2023 season on active and reserve lists. The XFL teams will have exclusive rights to the players they select in the draft.

It's worth noting that all players who sign an XFL contract, including those under contract from the 2023 season, will have an "NFL Out" option until Tuesday, December 26, 2023, following the conclusion of Week 16 of the NFL season. This provision allows players to pursue opportunities in the NFL if they arise.

Despite going undrafted in the NFL, Swen's talent and potential have caught the attention of the XFL, and now he has the chance to make a name for himself in the professional football league. With his past accomplishments and determination, Swen will be looking to make a significant impact as a member of the Seattle Sea Dragons and continue his journey in the world of football.
